The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service is setting up again the rehabilitation points providing shelter from the sun and assistance to those who need it during dog days. Five shelter tents are put up in the districts of Chisinau, two in Balti municipality and by one tent in the towns of Comrat, Cahul, Stefan Voda and Ungheni. The tents are unusually pitched in the center of the town or near markets, IPN reports.
The people who visit the tents are served water and can stay there during the hottest period of the day. The rehabilitation points are open between 11am and 6pm. In the municipalities of Balti and Cahul, the mobile tents provide medical assistance through SMURD teams in emergencies.
At the beginning of July, the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service set up 17 mobile points in a number of settlements of the country. More than 12,000 people were offered water and assistance there.
The forecasters issued an orange code advisory for hot weather for the period between July 18 and 20. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise to 38 degrees Celsius. Rain with thunder and lightning was forecast for July 20.
