The sewer pipes in Chisinau will be unblocked and cleaned twice faster, while the time needed for dealing with consumers’ requests to repair sewer pipes will decrease significantly. In this regard, S.A. “Apa Canal Chisinau” (ACC) on June 7 tested the specialized units of transport and equipment bought within a program financed by the EBRD and EIB, IPN reports.
The test was performed on Maria Dragan St, where a number of sewer pipes were unblocked. According to Nicolae Racu, head of the Sewer Pipes Exploitation Service of ACC, ten IVECO vehicles, two MAN trucks and a car with a video inspection system to determine the technical state of pipes were purchased within the project. “Owing to the new machinery, the company’s operational efficiency increased, while the time and costs needed for fixing sewer pipes following requests made by people decreased,” said Nicolae Racu.
Each district of Chisinau has by two IVECO vehicles, one of which is outfitted with hydrodynamic installations for washing sewerage networks. The MAN truck enables to wash pipes with the diameter of 150 to 800 mm and to remove residues from buildings. Earlier, such works were performed by two vehicles.
According to the data of ACC, the company’s teams in the first five months of 2017 dealt with 2,000 cases of sewer blocking, an increase of 10% compared with the corresponding period last year. The employees of ACC reported that the sewer pipes in Chisinau are in a deplorable state and serious intervention measures are needed. The company’s Sewer Pipes Exploitation Service manages over 1,000 km of sewer pipes in Chisinau municipality.
