Several experts believe that the income statements of high officials show their disdainful attitude towards the society, are part of a counterfeit democratic process and mock the society. The economic analyst Veaceslav Ionita told Info-Prim Neo that the income statements of high officials are fictional and a demonstration of the cynicism of the officials in regarding the public opinion. According to the expert, a square meter in an apartment costs at least USD 600, and the minimum price of an ar of land is USD 5 thousand. At the moment, an apartment with 2 rooms costs at least USD 30 thousand, and a plot of 4 ar costs around USD 20 thousand. Therefore, Ionita claims that, for example, the deputy Vadim Misin, which has a cottage, an apartment, a plot, two garages and a vehicle, estimated in the statement at MDL 118.984, in reality holds property of around MDL 1 mln 200 thousand, or more, 10 times greater than the official amount. According to Ionita the government of Moldova has learnt a great deal from the developed countries, including the income statement, but the realization remains typical: the value of the property is computed using the value recorded in the Cadastral Office, which is far from the real price of the property. The expert believes that the high officials afford to make such statements because the society at whole and the jurisdiction organizations do not care about the income of the officials and about the way public money are spent. Ionita claims that these declarations are erroneous because they are not a juridical document, the officials do not carry any juridical responsibility for the declarations, no tax evasion proceeding was started, nobody checked the amounts presented in the declarations as it should be and no property is confiscated if the statements do not reflect the reality. “A good practice was transformed into a humbug” Veacesav Ionita states. The political analyst Oazu Nantoi told Info-Prim Neo that the controversial morale from within the Moldovan society is found in the double accounting through the so-called “income statements”. According to the cited source, these acts show that politicians mock the electors. The Central Control Committee recently made public the income statements of the president of the Republic of Moldova, the MPs, members of the Government and other public officials. They declared incomes of puny financial sums, and showed excessively small prices for their plots, apartments, cottages, cars and other property. Other deputies stated that they do not have anything to declare at all.
