Seven students and two teachers of the secondary school of Burlaceni village in Cahul district were poisoned when they were modeling Plasticine. One of the students is now in intensive care at the Cahul District Hospital with acute poisoning. The others received medical care and are monitored by the family doctor. One of the teachers was also hospitalized, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, the incident happened on March 2 after the first lesson, where the students made models. In 15 minutes, they started to choke, cough and feel dizzy. Two ambulance teams arrived swiftly and gave first aid. It was preliminarily established that the modeling clay formed part of a humanitarian lot and was given to a student by representatives of a religious organization. The police are taking steps to determine if the Plasticine was also given to other children.

The Cahul Public Health Center took samples of the Plasticine for examination. The classroom was closed until the cause of poisoning is fully clarified.
