Seven personalities from the Republic of Moldova on October 6 were awarded the Anniversary Medal “Great Union Centenary” and the related patents that were conferred by the President of Romania Klaus Werner Iohannis this March, IPN reports.
Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ioniță said the protocol activity is performed in the happy context of the relaunch of the upper-level political dialogue between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, including on the EU platform. The ceremony held today forms part of the series of events held to celebrate the Centenary of the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau, which is one of the bastions of the Romanian culture in the Republic of Moldova. “It is a privilege to have near me skillful and untired professors, researchers and managers, magicians of words an colors or, in one word, Ottomans who left an eternal imprint on the fields in which they work, people who acted consistently to achieve the ideals,” stated the Romanian diplomat.
Presidential adviser Sergiu Nistor, head of the Department of Culture, Religion and National Minorities of the Romanian Presidential Administration, said the medal was conferred on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in gratitude for the effort made to keep the national identity and to disseminate the values of the Romanian cultural identity.
The Anniversary Medal “Great Union Centenary” was handed over to mayor of Strășeni, municipality Valentina Casian, actor and theater director Petru Hadârcă, editor-in chief of the Official Monitor of the Republic of Moldova Simion Ropot, promoter of the restoration of the historical monuments built in 1918-1940 Iulian Rusanovschi, researcher and bibliographer Maria Sargun, director general of “Litera” Editorial Group Anatol Vidrașcu, and director of the National Museum of Arts of Moldova Tudor Zbârnea.
“Mihai Eminescu” National Theater director Petru Hadârcă said that it was an honor for him to receive this medal, especially on October 6. On this day 100 years ago, the National Theater in Chisinau was founded. “I want to dedicate this medal to the whole staff of the National Theater, with special gratitude for the golden generations that passionately performed on the stage of the National Theater, for an ideal, for the ideal of the national culture and for the Romanian language,” stated Petru Hadârcă.
On August 31 this year, the Anniversary Medal “Great Union Centenary” was also coffered on musician Tudor Ungureanu, manager of the Ethnic-Folkloric Ensemble “Ștefan Vodă” Teodorei Rotaru, director of the National Library Elena Pintilei, executive director of “Vatra Neamului” Complex Viorica Moraru, artistic director and first conductor of the National Folk Music Orchestra “Lăutarii” Nicolae Botgros, president of the Theater Union of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Grecu, editor-in-chief of the culture and science journal “Limba noastră” Alexandru Bantoș, and writer, journalist and Radio Free Europe commentator Vitalie Ciobanu.
