Seven candidacies were submitted in the contest for the position of Prosecutor General. The last six have been submitted today, September 10, the last day for file submission. Within five working days of the deadline expiry, the list of candidates, their CVs, letters of motivation and their institutional management and development concept of the Prosecutor's Office will be published on the official website of the Superior Council of Prosecutors and will be presented by each candidate.

Asked by IPN, the head of the Protocol Service, international and public relations of the CSP, Eugen Roșca, answered that the names of the candidates who have submitted their files in the competition can not be made public yet. However, after the expiration of the five working days, the list of candidates for the Prosecutor General position will be made public.

According to CSP regulations, the candidates eligible for the first stage of the contest are tested on the simulated behavior detector (polygraph) and get a health check. Within a maximum of 20 working days from the candidacy submission deadline, the Council drafts the list of candidates who have submitted the complete set of documents and who meet competition criteria. Then, the list is displayed on the official website of the Prosecutor General's Office and of the Council. Additionally, the date, time and place where the interview will take place is displayed.

The Council interview for the election of the Prosecutor General takes place within a maximum of 30 working days from the date of publication of the mentioned list, provided that all the approval from the relevant authorities are received.

The position of Prosecutor General remained vacant following the resignation of Eduard Harunjen on July 11. Two days earlier, Parliament found that the appointing criteria had not been met in his case.
