The deadline for submitting the lists with signatures in support of the candidates willing to run in single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești was February 13. This way, seven candidates were officially registered as contenders.

Contacted by IPN for details, Ion Croitoru, deputy chairman of the Electoral Council of the Hâncești Electoral District, said the National Unity Party’s candidate Vlad Țurcanu, who took subscription lists to gather signatures in his support, didn’t submit the lists by 5pm on February 13 to be registered as a contestant, but also didn’t return them to the electoral body, even if he earlier announced his withdrawal in favor of independent candidate Grigore Cobzac. Vlad Țurcanu is expected to bring the lists back. No punishment for returning them with delay is specified.

The seven candidates for MP are: Ion Mereuță, of the Democratic Party; Ștefan Gațcan, of the Party of Socialists; Olesea Stamate, of the Action and Solidary Party; Vitalie Balinschi, of the Shor Party; Dorin Chirtoacă, of the UNION Electoral Bloc; Grigore Cobzac, independent  candidate, and Anatolie Postolachi, of the Liberal Democratic Party.

The election campaign starts on February 14 and campaigning is possible until March 13 inclusive. Electoral agitation on March 15 and on the day before is banned. The contenders who were registered officially can start to campaign. They can distribute informative brochures, stage meetings with voters, take part in electoral debates and place election advertisements.
