Seven awards to be handed over at Cultural Heritage Awards Gala

Seven awards will be given this year at the Cultural Heritage Awards Gala that will take place at the Palace of the Republic on April 18. The Research Award in the field of cultural heritage is the novelty of this year’s edition.

Alexandru Corduneanu, administrator of the Heritage 21 Foundation, at a press conference at IPN said that the following awards will be handed over: Award for citizens’ involvement in protecting and promoting cultural heritage; ICR Award for research in the field of cultural heritage; Award for conservation and restoration of cultural heritage: Award for promoting archaeological heritage: Award for completing and preserving cultural heritage, and pro-heritage media Award. There will also be the Grand Prize for Cultural Heritage, which will be handed over by Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan.

During the event, a performance of music will be given by Select Quartet Plus led by Mihai Agafița and singers Aurel Chirtoacă and Tatiana Turtureanu, who will sing songs of the heritage of the 1930s and 1960s.

Sergiu Musteață, president of the National Association of Young Historians of Moldova, said that this year’s Cultural Heritage Awards Gala highlights a number of exceptional projects, people, governmental and nongovernmental institutions.

Sergiu Musteață noted that through this project, through the 2024 edition, they aim to demonstrate that there can be unity in terms of attitude towards the past and attitude towards cultural heritage. The Gala focuses on components related to cultural heritage, but in the future can expand to include also intangible and natural heritage.

The event is organized by the Heritage 21 Foundation, the National Association of Young Historians of Moldova and the Institute of Cultural Heritage. The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Chisinau City Hall, TVR Chisinau and Radio Romania Chisinau.

The Cultural Heritage Awards Gala starts at 6 p.m.
