More than 50 localities in the southern districts of Moldova remained without electric power in the afternoon of July 3 following the high winds and torrential rain. In the municipality of Comrat, a number of kindergartens had to suspend work as the children could not be fed in the absence of electricity.

Contacted by IPN for details, mayor of Comrat Sergey Anastasov said dozens of private homes and apartment buildings remained partially without roofs. The rain damaged roads under construction on a distance of about 20 km.

At the entrance to the town, a huge tree  collapsed, blocking the national road M3. The municipality has been in outage. The supply of power in some of the sectors was restored.

Asked by IPN to provide details, Daria Nechaeva, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, said the rescuers intervened to unblock a number of road sections and electrical cables. Settlements in six districts in southern Moldova, including the ATU Gagauzia, partially experienced blackouts.
