The introduction of the National Single Emergency Service 112 on a trial basis is delayed. It was to start to be tested by the end of this year, but the authorities ascertained that they need more time.

To an inquiry by IPN, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology responded that the implementation of the Service 112 is a complex and very responsible process as they lay the foundations of an absolutely new system implemented in stages that cannot be omitted. The service will be first tested and will be fully put into operation in about two years.

It was earlier anticipated that the system could be tested by the end of 2016, but more time is yet needed for preparations. Most probably, this will be introduced on a trial basis not earlier than the second quarter of 2017.

The architecture of the future system is now being designed. A team of experts was selected at an international bidding contest to fulfill the technical requirements. The experts also helped finalize the bidding requirements for purchasing the Automated Information System and international bids will be soon invited to buy the system. Only afterward will the communications be retuned and re-technologized.

The Ministry said that in general the Service 112 is implemented in accordance with the plan of action approved by the Government. Under this, the whole system will be put into operation in the third quarter of 2018. The costs associated with its implementation will be covered with state budget and other funds.
