The last few months have been very difficult for the Democratic Party, there have been several attempts to divide the PDM group in Parliament, but also the party itself, and the pressures and blackmail have reached unimaginable levels. The statement belongs to the Democrat MP Sergiu Sîrbu. According to him, some members of the PDM were threatened with criminal cases by the former government, while others were stripped of immunity, IPN reports.
"Huge pressure has been put on the Democratic Party. In principle, even now, there is pressure, and law enforcement bodies continue to closely monitor each party MP”; said Sergiu Sîrbu on "Piatnița s Anatoliem Golea" show, on RTR Moldova.
Also, the deputy explains why the PDM has not yet come back to governance, although it voted with the Socialists to dismiss the Sandu Government and to appoint the Chicu Government. "We voted for the current Government because the prime minister has given us assurances that he will not deal with politics and that all economic projects that have been stopped by the previous executive - roads, social benefits," First House ", salaries, pensions will be resumed. "However, if the Government or the Socialist Party break their promises and start taking Moldova into another direction, trying to change the country's vector, if there are attempts to revise the Association Agreement with the EU or other matters for which the PDM initially pleaded, then it is clear that we will not be silent,” said Sergiu Sîrbu.
Expert Stefan Gligor claims that 17 out of the 30 Democratic MPs agreed to create a separate parliamentary group with a social-democratic orientation. Thus, the PSRM, which has 36 mandates, together with these 17 mandates, would have obtained 53 mandates, a simple parliamentary majority, sufficient to invest the Government. "In these conditions, seeing that the group could break up, understanding the difficulty of the situation, the Democrats have managed to keep the group united, by accepting to create this majority in full membership," said Gligor. In his opinion, the current Government is a mixed democratic-socialist one.
Ștefan Gligor believes that the PDM is in an unenviable situation because within the group there are 17 mandates that will always put the Democrats in a tight spot.
