Sergiu Mocanu released from house arrest

Politician Sergiu Mocanu was freed from house arrest, but banned from leaving the country. According to Mocanu’s lawyer Ion Dron, the Chisinau Court of Appeals passed the decision on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We will appeal against the restriction to leave the country as there is no legal reason to restrict his movement,” Ion Dron said.
Sergiu Mocanu had been held on remand for 61 days. On June 12, Mocanu was placed under house arrest. He is accused of organizing and leading the April 7 violent protests in downtown Chisinau.
