The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin tried to hinder Romania’s entry into the European Union when he held the presidency of Moldova, the leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu said in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, referring to the period when he was adviser to the former Communist President, IPN reports.

According to Sergiu Mocanu, the relations with Romania became very difficult in the period when the neighboring country was preparing to join the EU and this was due to the Voronin administration. “Vladimir Voronin, helped by his closest adviser then Mark Tkachuk, acted behind the scenes in order to hamper Romania’s integration into the European Union. The two hoped that Moldova will be admitted into the EU. Thus, they started a merciless discrediting war against Romania,” he said.

The leader of “Antimafie” also said that when he was presidential adviser, he behaved like a secret agent. “I did my utmost then to restore the relations with Romania and I think I managed to save them,” he stated

Sergiu Mocanu noted that he accepted the proposal to work as presidential adviser because there was a danger that the Kozak Plan will be signed, but left after he discovered the illegal schemes used by Vlad Plahotniuc and Oleg Voronin. “It happened accidentally. Voronin was in a serious dilemma about the signing of the Kozak Plan as he was offered US$250 million. I accepted to be his adviser because I wanted to save Moldova and also Romania from the intrigues planned by Voronin and Tkachuk,” he said.

He underlined that he wants to jail Vladimir Voronim, Vlad Filat and Vladimir Plahotniuc and needs the Parliament’s rostrum for this. That’s why he decided to run in the legislative elections.
