A revolution will take place in Moldova, which will lead to the modification of the conception of state. Now the country is a state of confusion and needs civil society leaders who would urge the people to promote this change, Sergiu Mocanu, who heads the People’s Movement “Antimafie”, said in the public debate “How appropriate the behavior of the real and potential participants in the negotiations on the formation of a government coalition is in the current situation in Moldova: extra-parliamentary views”, organized by IPN in cooperation with Radio Moldova.

Sergiu Mocanu noted that the current government’s behavior perfectly matches society as the population’s patience is so great that the rulers afford to do what they want now. “Things are so confuse that even those from outside, from Brussels, understand the developments in Moldova with difficulty. The people from abroad perceive us as a declining society and we are declining, starting with the politicians and ending with civil society. Those from abroad say that the people here speculate only and say one thing, but do another thing. There was an uprising in April. I was glad that resources were found and the people from civil society admitted that they were wrong and want to change the situation. I thought than that people who would say that they are not involved in political partisanship and that everyone would have chances would appear. But this didn’t happen. Everyone wanted to create a party in a niche left by the Liberal Democratic Party, which is in decline. There is bluff all over Moldova, not only in Parliament,” said Sergiu Mocanu.

The politician added that his party earlier announced a program named “Second Republic” because it considers that the state created in 1991 used up its resources and another project is needed. “There is no instrument for promoting this program because the state is captured. In the election campaign, we came with the message “No obligation outside the public interest”, which is a novelty for Moldova. Maybe some people who had contacts with the European states, where they paid contributions and received insurance, understood us, but this society didn’t understand the message,” stated Sergiu Mocanu.

The politician is sure that Moldova will witness a revolution as a result of which the messages of his party will be adjusted to the political and geopolitical conjuncture.

The public debate “How appropriate the behavior of the real and potential participants in the negotiations on the formation of a government coalition is in the current situation in Moldova: extra-parliamentary views” is the 45th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are supported by the German foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
