Reality shows that Europe does not need the Republic of Moldova. A prosperous state means a prosperous economy and Moldova can now produce and sell only three types of strategic goods – wines, vegetables and fruit. It can sell these products on the CIS market as the European market is saturated. All the discussions about the European integration are sterile because the EU needs the Republic of Moldova only for geopolitical purposes, deputy chairman of the Party “Moldova’s Patriots” Sergey Perciune stated in the public debate “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on pro-Eurasian platform before an electoral year”, which was the 83rd installment organized by IPN News Agency.

Sergey Perciun said the great economic powers struggle between them, while the post-Soviet states have the duty to ‘bark’ when they are told to and are provided with grants and money in reward. The social problems will be solved if the economic problems are solved first, but the EU does not need Moldova. Despite the pro-European propaganda, the largest part of the population of Moldova looks to the East, to Russia, as to a country that can ensure Moldova’s future.

According to the politician, most of the citizens see their future in the Eurasian area, from economic viewpoint, because there is a real danger for the Moldovans to disappear as a state and a people if European strategies are followed. “We will turn into a region of Romania, a Romanian province. Our history will disappear because, as long as we are a piece of land with the historical name Moldova, we are a serious danger to Romania and they will do their best to destroy us,” he stated.

Asked about the relations of Moldova’s Patriots with other parties of the left in the future election campaign, Sergey Perciun said the party he represents will take part in the campaign by itself, but if there is another, alternative party with sincere intentions devoted to Moldova’s future, the party can renounce the political struggle on the left. As any other party, they want to remain in politics and should use all the instruments to influence the elections so as to maximally contribute to the country’s prosperity.

As to the mixed electoral system, the politician said this was established for the ruling class that wants to remain in power at all costs. “The PDM no longer enjoys the people’s support and thus uses stratagems to enter Parliament again and to strengthen its forces, buying people to build a team. The unionist segment is also controlled by Plahotniuc, but if Plahotniuc and Dodon change the geopolitical course tomorrow, we will support this if it is for the people’s benefit,” said the deputy chairman of Moldova’s Patriots.

The public debate “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on pro-Eurasian platform before an electoral year”, was the 83rd installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are organized with support from Germany’s Hanns Seidel Foundation.

The next debate “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on official pro-European platform before an electoral year” was scheduled to take place in the conference hall of IPN News Agency on November 28, starting at 2pm. This is to bring together representatives of the PDM and PPEM and two experts.
