The candidate of the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) Sergey Anastasov won the mayoral elections in Comrat municipality. According to the preliminary results presented by the Central Election Commission after 100% of the votes were counted, Anastasov polled 55.39% of the ballot. His opponent, independent candidate Nicolai Dudoglo, won 44.61% of the vote, IPN reports.
After the results were made public, Anastasov said he won the elections because the town needs changes. During many years, the people had been divided into ‘ours’ and ‘yours’. A lot of works is now to be done, but he is ready for this.
The general voter turnout in the second round of local elections was about 47%, down 1% on the first round of June 14. In Gagauzia, the voter turnout was 44.82%.
