Sergei Tarnovski could gain as a result of the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. At the start of this July, the four-year suspension ban imposed on the Moldovan canoeist owing to doping expires. This way, the 22-year-old athletes will be able to take part in the two qualification tournaments for the Tokyo Olympics that were rescheduled for the summer of 2021, IPN reports.
“I cannot yet believe that the Olympic Games were postponed until next year. I will now train to the maximum so as to gain qualification for the Olympics,” the athlete stated for a TV channel. He will compete in the singles and doubles competitions alongside his brother Oleg Tarnovski.
Sergei Tarnovski won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in 1 000 meter simple canoe. In several days, he learned that he failed the dope test. Sergei is a pupil of the specialized school of Lvov. Since 2013, he and his brother Oleg have represented Moldova.
