Sergei Ciobanu, a representative of civil society, says that an infrastructure company in April this year made a request to the Government of the Republic of Moldova “regarding the investment in the most important sectors of the national economy of an amount exceeding US$3 billion”. The sections of the investment program aimed at providing the country’s districts with sports facilities, dealing with the shortage of balneological institutions, solving the problems of the diaspora. After examining the request, the program was rejected. In order to present details about this case, Sergei Ciobanu held a news conference at IPN.
The representative of civil society noted that within the program, in response to the problem of providing the districts of the republic with sports facilities and the lack of spaces that meet international standards, it was proposed to create a network of sports facilities in the Republic of Moldova, namely the location of halls for professional sports in Edineț, Nisporeni, Stăuceni, Ialoveni, Cahul.
Sergei Ciobanu stressed that the population of most districts, including the children and youth, are deprived of the opportunity to do amateur and professional sports. Although the proposed localities were reflected in various urban planning documentations, this project was not accepted by the Government, which cited the fact that there are already projects of this kind within other priority programs and tasks for the Republic of Moldova. Sergei Ciobanu requested information about the localities where such projects are carried out.
According to him, another section aims to do away with the shortage of balneological institutions meant to ensure all citizens’ access to balneological and prophylactic treatment. Within the investment program, it was proposed to expand the accommodation and treatment capacities of the existing sanatorium complex in the municipality of Cahul, which would considerably increase the tourist-spa attractiveness of the Republic of Moldova.
The civil society representative said that Moldovan migrants from different countries urge the public “to warn the Government of the Republic of Moldova and civil society about the problems that are becoming more and more serious because they are not addressed and solved at the state level. Among the diaspora’s wishes is the provision of consular and legal services to detained persons and prisoners. Also, the diaspora demands the provision of services regarding job offers and domicile in the foreign country, the initiation of a program for the return to the country of labor migrants, the issuance without payment of the white passport for citizens who lost their papers or whose documents expired at each Moldovan consulate in the countries where they are.
