The Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Serafim Urechean designed the “Digital City Hall” project by which he aims to implement e-governance in the local administration. Urechean told a news conference that this project is designed to root out corruption and bureaucracy from the municipal administration, IPN reports.
The project will enable to issue authorizations and certificates based on documents submitted online. Those interested will be able to check online if the City Hall issued or not an authorization for a particular construction. If they determine that there is no authorization, they will be able to report the appearance of an illegal construction.
Serafim Urechean noted that until now the City Hall has worked according to the standards that he set when he was a mayor general. Fifteen years ago, these standards were an innovation, but now they are outdated and new information technology should be thus implemented in the local administration.
The Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate said that this project will make the public servants more responsible.
