The chairman of the Audit Office Serafim Urechean said he is determined to run for the post of mayor of Chisinau municipality. He made such a statement in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

Urechean said that most probably he will run as an independent. “I think independent candidates should compete for the post of mayor. You see what happens if the politicians interfere in the administration of Chisinau. The race should involve not people fielded by parties, but prepared people,” he stated.

Urechean noted that he will hold talks with political parties and will ask for their support in the election campaign. “I will ask them to support me. I will also think about restoring the Alliance “Moldova Noastra”. Former members of the party phone me and say they are ready to resume work and urge me to return to politics,” said the former party leader.

He also leveled criticism at the current administration of the Chisinau City Hall. “What’s going on in Chisinau is a disaster. The residents of the capital started to hate their city. During his two terms in office, Mayor Chirtoaca did almost nothing. He bought trolleybuses from Belarus at the price of €169,000 at a time when these could be bought for €75,000 from the Czech Republic. Moreover, he took out a lot of loans and the people will have to bear the burden of repaying them during many years on. There is an Audit Office report of 160 pages. If our legal system had been functional, many functionaries of the Chisinau City Hall would have been jailed,” he stated.

Serafim Urechean also said that he worked hard for things at the Audit Office to return to normality and his duty is to leave qualified specialists there.
