Over 100 photographs about the life of persons with disabilities are on display at an exhibition set up inside the National Center for Children and Youth “Artico”. The exhibit was staged as part of the Ten Days of Social Inclusion drive, Info-Prim Neo reports. “These photos represent sequences from the life and activities carried out by the disabled children to show that they are talented, bright and kindhearted,” said Aurelia Hancu, the head of “Artico” Center. More than 2,500 young people, 40 of whom are disabled, go to the Center to spend the free time and to try to integrate into the society. Aurelia Hancu said that regardless of their state, these children try to behave like healthy people. “They fall in love, want to live, are optimistic and want that the persons around them devote more attention to them. Therefore, they try to participate in activities where they can assert themselves and are glad when they are listened to and praised.” The center's head also said that the lack of units of transport is a major problem faced by the Center. “We sought help from different NGOs, projects and ministries and asked that they provide a unit of transport so that these children could easier come to the Center. But all of them told us to wait.” Aurelia Hancu explained that these children encounter difficulties in getting to the Center. “They cannot get onto trolleybuses as the metal bar hinders them. The minibuses do not stop or they are crowded. The parents usually bring the children by taxis, but this is costly.” Lilia Cainareanu, the head of the public association “Pro-Tineret”, said that even if the children meet with difficulties, they come to the Center and prepare themselves thoroughly when there is a concert or an exhibition. “The festival held to open the Ten Days of Social Inclusion drive is a conclusive proof. The children showed they can dance and recite poems. This exhibit also shows that these children are great.” The exhibition will continue until the end of the drive. Different activities aimed at the social inclusion of the children with disabilities will be carried out as part of the event.
