The protest staged by the Great National Assembly Council on September 17 ended with a criminal case. According to the General Police Inspectorate, while the police was maintaining public order and safety, a Mercedes Sprinter minibus entered the crowd and moved to the police cordon, endangering the life and health of those who attended the protest. The driver, who actually wasn’t the owner of the car, ran away, IPN reports.

The incident occurred in front of the building of the national TV channel Moldova 1.

The police specified that the owner of the minibus – a man aged 43 from Hancesti district - tried to flee by moving on the counterflow lane, but he was stopped by the patrolling police and escorted to the inspectorate. Measures are being taken to identity and determine the whereabouts of the driver who entered the crowd with the minibus. A criminal case was started and the minibus will be seized as corpus delicti, in accordance with the procedure.

The message of the police was published in the evening of September 17.

However, during the protest the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase said the police sequestrated the minibus that was taking amplifiers and other equipment used in the protest to near the building of the national public broadcaster.
