Sentences passed in case of attempted attack on state security

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has said the sentences against the two young men from Comrat district, who wee arrested at the end of June for taking steps to destabilize the order in the state, were pronounced, IPN reports.

According to the PGO, the young men were accused of providing assistance to foreign state services for terrorist purposes and of preparing the foundation of an illegal paramilitary organization. The prosecutors proved the guilt of the two and the Comrat Court put them on probation for five years and banned them from holding posts requiring bearing arms for a five-year period.

When questioned by the police, the two admitted their guilt. They cooperated with the police and the prosecutors and revealed the names of their accomplices and other relevant details, asking for a milder punishment. At the end of June, four persons were arrested on suspicion that they prepared Moldovans for staging subversive and anti-constitutional activities that could affect the security and territorial integrity of the country.

The investigation into the case of the other two persons is close to an end and they will also stand trial.
