A 40-year-old man from the north of Moldova has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for severely abusing his children, accused of raping his daughter and physically assaulting his son. The conviction follows an investigation in which prosecutors and police gathered evidence of multiple acts of violence committed between 2021 and 2024, IPN reports.
According to the child's statements, the abuse began after the death of her mother and was committed systematically.
The prosecutor in the case has asked for life imprisonment, which is why the sentence will be challenged, the authorities report.
The prosecutor's office also points out that any sexual act against a minor is considered a criminal offense and punishable by law.
