The Buiucani branch of the Court of Chisinau municipality will pass the judgment in the case of Kiril Luchinski on April 4. The former MP is accused of money laundering in very large amounts and of false entry in records.
The prosecutor in charge of this case demanded that Kiril Luchinski should be sentenced to six years and a half in jail and fined 27,500 lei and that the €23,000 seized during searches and ½ of two plots and a house in Chisinau municipality owned by the defendant should be confiscated.
In the March 15 hearing, there were held the closing arguments and the accused was given his last word. Kirill Luchinski pleads not guilty and expects to be acquitted, IPN reports.
The ex-MP was arrested on May 25 last year and was later placed under house arrest. The case started to be examined last November.
