A senior precinct officer of the Briceni Police Inspectorate lost the battle with COVID-19 in the evening of September 10. The man was 36 and had two minor children, IPN reports.
According to the Police, the man was admitted to the Bălți City Hospital in a serious state on August 29. He had bilateral pneumonia and tested positive for COVID-19.
The officer had worked in the police force for over 12 years. “We are near the grieving family to which we offer our sincere condolences and compassion,” says the press release of the Police.
This is the fourth death among police officers infected with the novel coronavirus. The death toll from COVID-19 in Moldova now stands at 1,106.
