The Superior Council of Prosecutors has started the selection process to appoint a new head of the Anticrorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
“This is a key agency in the fight against grand corruption and corrupt officials, who are showing more and more resistance. While the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office has made some progress lately, the agency needs to be strengthened with honest and professional people, and its management has a crucial role in this regard,” said Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco, ex officio member of the Council.
The post fell vacant after criminal proceedings were started against Viorel Morari in December 2019. The agency has had three interim heads since, with Elena Cazacov being the latest.
