Section head of Soroca District Hospital to stand trial

A section head of the Soroca District Hospital “A. Prisacari” is accused of passive corruption. The investigation was completed and the case was sent to court, IPN reports.

According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation was launched after the wife of a patient denounced the doctor .It was established that during December 2017 – January 2018, the doctor, in exchange for sums of money, promised patients he will make sure they will undergo the necessary operations by avoiding the waiting lists.

The doctor’s acts were classed as passive corruption that involved the receiving of illegal rewards for providing public services. The doctor didn’t admit his guilt and refused to make statements.  He is now under judicial control.

If he is found guilty, he will serve five to ten years in jail and will be fined 300,000 to 400,000 lei.
