Secretary of state for Romanians everywhere meets with Moldovan officials

The secretary of state for Romanians everywhere Eugen Tomac paid an official visit to Moldova on February 6-7. He had meetings with Minster and Deputy Minister of Education Mihail Shleahtitski and Tatiana Poting and other Government officials, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué, the meetings centered on the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation in education and the initiation of new programs to support the education system in Moldova. The secretary of state stressed that the Government of Romania will offer the same number of places in Romanian education institutions for Moldova young people.
Eugen Tomac also met with Victor Chirila, Prime Minister Vlad Filat’s adviser on international relations and the diaspora. They underlined the necessity of identifying a common platform for cooperation between Chisinau and Bucharest so as to support the Romanian and Moldovan communities in the limitrophe states.
The visit continued at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, where Eugen Tomac had a meeting with Deputy Minister Andrei Popov. The discussions focused on issues of common interest, concerning the support of the Moldovan and Romanian communities abroad.
The secretary of state took part in a roundtable meeting that centered upon the cooperation prospects between Romania and Moldova, which was organized by the Foreign Policy Association. He said there should be identified signposts for strengthening the relations between Bucharest and Chisinau. In this connection, he presented the draft national strategy for the Romanians everywhere that was launched at the Forum of Romanians Everywhere on September 31 – October 1, 2011.
Eugen Tomac also took part in a roundtable meeting on the historiography in Moldova.
