The secretary of the Bubuieci Council and a possible accomplice of his were arrested for 72 hours on charges of corruption. These are suspected of dispossessing the local public administration of four plots for construction, causing thus damage of about 1 million lei, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the Council’s secretary identified four plots that belonged to the City Hall and were to be distributed to locals. Aiming to sell these, the secretary, together with other accomplices, looked for persons from other communities whose names and surnames coincided with the identification data of the real applicants for plots intended for construction that were put on a relevant list.

After coming into possession of the plots, the beneficiaries made general powers of attorneys in the name of the secretary and later this sold the land to third persons. The cadastral sum of the plots is of over 700,000 lei.

If they are found guilty, the suspects will serve two to six years in jail or will be fined up to 117 500 lei. In both of the cases they will be banned from holding particular posts or carrying out particular activities for a period of five to ten years.
