The second train renovated in Romania’s Pascani started to run on the Chisinau – Ocnita route on April 23. The train was renovated at a cost of over €2 million, as the first train of the kind. Daniela Juganaru, spokesman for the state-run company “Calea Ferata a Moldovei” (Moldova’s Railways), has told IPN that the second train is almost identical to the first, except several improvements.
The engine driver’s cab was improved and the train will produce less noise. There were installed new gear boxes. The price of tickets remained unchanged for the time being. The train will travel daily from Chisinau to Ocnita and back.
The first Moldovan train was renovated in Romania last year. The railcars of the renovated train have three comfort classes. They all have access to the Internet, sockets for computers and air conditioning systems.
The first renovated train runs on the Chisinau-Taraclia route on even days.
There are two more Moldovan trains in Romania, which are to be renovated.
