Second man who died in Chisinau blast identified

The police discovered the identity of the second man who died in the explosion that occurred in a shop situated at the intersection of the streets Armeneasca and Alexei Mateevici in Chisinau on March 20, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, the victim is a man aged 40 from Chisinau, who lived alone.

A 50-year-old man, who had been tried for several times for keeping drugs and fined for driving under the influence, is suspected of detonating an explosive device.

Witnesses said the man went to the shop to purchase cigarettes and didn’t want to pay for them. Surveillance cameras showed the man had something in his hand and a shop clerk was pushing him towards the exit. Immediately afterward, an explosion occurred, killing the man and injuring mortally a passerby.

No one in the shop was hurt, but a man who was out nearby was injured. He was later taken to the hospital.
