The second edition of the program “School of Modern Finance”, which involves 15 undergraduate students and master’s students of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, who were selected at a contest, has been launched. Before traveling to Romania, the young people had a meeting with governor Octavian Armașu, which was staged at the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), IPN reports.

The second edition of the “School of Modern Finance” will take place during September 9-17. The young people will be able to combine the experience of studying in Romania’s capital with cultural-historical activities in such towns as Iasi, Brasov, Suceava, and Sinaia. In Bucharest, the students will have meetings with the governor of the National Bank of Romania Mugur Isărescu.

When the program is completed, certificates signed by the governors of the National Bank of Moldova and the National Bank of Romania and by the rectors of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova will be handed over.

In the launch event, NBM governor Octavian Armașu said that the “School of Modern Finance” is a historic project launched in partnership with the National Bank of Romania and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, which should be strengthened. “It is a unique experience within which students can see how a central bank works. These have the chance to discuss face to face with remarkable personalities from Romania, to attend lectures, etc. It is an opportunity that will help them in their professional development,” stated Octavian Armașu.

The participation by students from Moldova in the “School of Modern Finance” is partially supported by the USAID’s Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity (MISRA), which backs the NBM in its efforts to accelerate financial sector reforms and to improve financial education and inclusion.
