In the absence of a quorum, the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) on June 15 didn’t manage again to debate the agenda prepared for the June 14 meeting, which, for its part, was put off. The councilors accused each other of unwillingness to work, IPN reports.
On June 14, the CMC came together for the first meeting after the new local mayoral elections. Practically all the councilors came to the meeting, but these could not agree the additional agenda and the meeting was postponed until the next day.
On June 15, the discussions on the agenda continued until the chairman of the meeting ascertained the absence of a quorum and announced that the Council’s standing bureau will convene in the morning of June 18. The leader of the Socialist group Ion Ceban proposed a break of several hours, but only the Socialists returned to the meeting hall after this.
Ion Ceban said the agenda could have been approved if all the dirty and corrupt proposals of the Liberals, the executive authorities and others had been eliminated. He regretted the impossibility of discussing important subjects, such as the transferring back of the Gaudeamus Cinema under municipal management and provision of particular allowances.
For their part, the Liberals accused the Socialists of creating blockages on the Council. According to the Liberal group’s leader Ion Cebanu, it is huge irresponsibility on the part of the Socialists to block against the activity of the CMC after three months of commotion. According to him, the blockage is the main policy of a party that is noxious for Chisinau, which is the Party of Socialists.
