The Constitutional Court (CC) rejected as inadmissible the Central Election Commission’s request to validate the seat of MP for Vladimir Vitiuc, who was a substitute candidate on the lists of the Shor Party that was declared unconstitutional on June 19, IPN reports.

By its decision of June 19, 2023, the CC outlawed the Shor Party. Also, the Court annulled this party’s lists of substitute candidates for Parliament and councils, which were validated earlier. The Court held that if a seat of MP becomes vacant after the adoption of this decision, the seat will remain vacant throughout the length of the 11th legislature and the Court will not validate any of the seats.

The given decision is definitive, cannot be challenged, takes effect when it is adopted and is published in the Official Gazette.

Vladimir Vitiuc was to enter Parliament after Parliament stripped the leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor of the seat of MP on April 27 this year.
