Officers of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) raided the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) on Friday. An official of the Agency is suspected of having facilitated the obtaining of a license for the import and sale of fuel, IPN reports.

According to the NAC, a consultant of the NAER’s Licensing Division acted in the interests of an economic operator to speed up the process of registering primary documents for obtaining a license. The suspect allegedly exerted influence on some of the members of the Agency’s commission, who, for their part, were to facilitate the process of obtaining the license. As a result, the license was issued the day after the submission of the package of documents.

The NAER employee was summoned to the NAC headquarters to be questioned and classed as a suspect in the case of influence peddling in aggravating circumstances.

The NAER came with a reaction, saying that it is willing to provide all the information that is relevant to the investigated case so that the truth is discovered. “The employee is ready to cooperate with the law enforcement agency and in the coming days will present himself at the NAC for the subsequent procedures,” noted the Agency.
