Anticorruption officers and prosecutors carried out searches at the Moldovan Parachuting Federation in a case of abuse of office committed by persons holding responsible posts at the Federation. These are suspected of causing damage of millions of lei to the institution during the last few years. One of the persons is investigated as a suspect outside remand, IPN reports.
The Federation’s administration is suspected of abusing the official duties and of providing services for money to amateur parachutists, collecting taxes that weren’t indicated in the accounting records, said the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2019, officials of the Federation gathered 3 million lei for the provided services, while in 2020 – over 7 million lei without including these in the official records, causing this way considerable damage to the institution.
