Searches at home of member of Gagauz electoral authority

Prosecutors and police officers searched the house of a member of the Central Election Commission of Gagauzia on suspicion that he possessed objects showing that ballots were made and printed illegally and then were used in the February 2 referendums, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the search was authorized by court. The deputy prosecutor of Gagauzia, who is the representative of the local prosecutor’s office, was at the scene when the search was performed. No objects with relevance to the criminal case were found there.

Earlier, authorizes searches were carried out in Chisinau municipality at economic entities that print advertising materials. There were seized samples, materials and documents holding interest in the enquiry.

Investigations go on to document violations committed in the organization of the referendums held in Gagauzia on February 2.
