A bronze sculpture of Veronica Micle was inaugurated in Mihai Eminescu Square in central Chisinau. The sculpture was made by Veaceslav Jiglitski during three months with extra-budgetary funds totaling about 500,000 lei, IPN reports.
The head of Centru district Pavel Rusu said the project was implemented with the involvement of private individuals and business entities. “We will implement more projects in Centru district. A project started to be put into practice on Mioriţa St, where a square is being set up. We are considering placing an urban sculpture there too, of Mioriţa,” stated the official.
Attending the event, sculptor Veaceslav Jiglitski thanked the municipal authorities and the townspeople for their support and appreciation. “Now that the sculpture of Veronica Micle was unveiled, Mihai Eminescu will no longer be alone,” he noted.
On the occasion of the event, children of the Creation Center “Sunflower” led by Valeriu Ţurcanu gave a performance, reciting poems by Mihai Eminescu.
