Prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Victor Furtună will examine the aspects invoked by PAS MP Lilian Carp in the claim he filed to the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) about Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. The decision was taken by the Council in its October 5 meeting by a majority of votes, IPN reports.

According to SCP president Angela Motuzoc, there were also formulated separate opinions about the designated prosecutor and about the admission of the claim, but she didn’t give names.

In his claim, Lilian Carp, who heads the commission on national security, defense and public order, asked to investigate the prosecutor general for abuse of power and passive corruption. He invokes ties between Veaceslav Platon and Alexandr Stoianoglo in the money laundering case coined “Laundromat”.

The subject was disused in an extraordinary meeting that involved Alexandr Stoianoglo. The prosecutor general wasn’t yet allowed to present his stance. Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco said the prosecutor general attended the meeting illegally as only four of the nine members of SCP voted in favor of inviting him.
