Scooter driver hospitalized in critical condition

A 21-year-old man was admitted to the intensive care section of the Emergency Hospital after sustaining critically serious injuries in a traffic accident Monday early morning. Anatol Proca, coordinating doctor at the Chisinau Emergency Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the young man was riding a scooter during nighttime and ran into an obstacle, ending up on the ground, his head struck against a curbstone. The arrived ambulance crew diagnosed the victim with open head trauma, cerebral contusion, and open fracture of the frontal bones. Doctors are not optimistic about his survival chances. Also in critical condition, a young woman aged 20 was hospitalized this morning at the Holy Trinity Hospital after being hit by a Mercedes minibus on route 155 on Alecu Russo Street. The victim suffered severe head trauma and thoracic contusion. At around 3:00 am, a young man, 22, was knifed in his own home by an acquaintance. Earlier, at 11:00 pm, a 30-year-old man was stabbed by unidentified assaulters while walking home on Alecu Russo Street. Two teenagers, a girl aged 16 and a boy aged 19, attempted to commit suicide by taking pills. Both were hospitalized for detox. Over the past day and night, the Chisinau Emergency Service recorded 692 calls, involving 71 cases of acute viral diseases, 76 cases of trauma, 6 brain strokes and 22 cases of mumps.
