Scientists of the Chisinau branch of the state-owned fish production and research company Acvacultura Moldova propose varieties of carpus that can be used to prepare dishes for the festive Christmas and New Year dinner, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the company's director Galina Curcubet, the latest accomplishment is the carpus of Myndyk. “This variety of carpus grows quickly and is more resistant that other species met in Moldova's ponds.” Owing to the low number of scales, it can be easily cleared. The size of the flesh that can be eaten is by 4-5% larger than at other types of fish. The fish is very tasty. Besides, the ponds were this fish is grown do not need to be treated with pharmaceutical preparations as the carpus is immune to many diseases. The carpus of Myndyk reproduces quickly. The roe survives at lower temperatures and the survival rate is by 15-37% higher than at other fish, she said Galina Curcubet also said that the varieties of carpus selected at the Chisinau branch, including the carpus of Myndyk, are bred at specialized farms in Cubolta and Telenesti, from where the 19 fish breeding farms of Moldova and the over 200 peasant farms that breed and sell fish can purchase roe.
