The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel considers that until the process of reforming the justice sector of Moldova continues, there is no obstacle for not initialing the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and the European Union, IPN reports.

Dirk Shcuebel told a news conference that the European Union’s message that the justice sector reform should be continued is very clear. “The justice reform is the key element, in concert with the corruption combating actions. We want this process to continue for several months until the Vilnius Summit. If there are clear signals that the reform process goes on and will be ensured in continuation by the Moldovan Government, there will be no obstacles,” said the European official.

He also said that the European Union wouldn’t have ventured into such an ambitious project, if it hadn’t believed in its success. “We do not want to waste our funds. We want to see results. The justice sector is the crucial one and needs reformation, especially because it is closely connected with the other sectors. The fight against corruption is the most serious problem of Moldova. I speak about all the areas, not only justice,” stated Dirk Schuebel.

He underlined that the EU believes in the effectiveness of the justice sector reform and the Moldovan political leaders show great commitment.
