From 2025, some schools across the country will set up inclusive education units for children with severe and marked disabilities. Although they will be part of mainstream schools, these units will provide an adapted educational setting with personalized educational plans.
In a reply to IPN, the Ministry of Education and Research says that a needs analysis will be carried out to identify the educational institutions that could develop an inclusive education unit.
Inclusive education units will be set up mainly in large schools with at least 300 pupils. The decision will be taken by the local public administration, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Research, based on the recommendation of the Republican Center for Psycho-pedagogical Assistance and the reasoned approach of the local education authority.
The children enrolled in the inclusive education unit will be enrolled in classes according to their age, in the Class Catalog, the General Register of Children of the educational institution and in the General Register of Children enrolled in the inclusive education unit.
These children will receive educational support and support services. They will also receive personal assistance, which will be provided according to their abilities, performance, skills and personal needs.
Depending on their individual needs and their ability to participate, children will have meals in the school canteen or in the kitchen of the inclusive education unit. If necessary, transportation will be provided from home to and from the educational institution.
Inclusive education units will be financed from special-purpose state budget funds.
