Schools in 10 districts closed because of heavy snow

The education institutions in 10 districts suspended classes owing to the heavy snow and the lack of electrical power. As many as 256 schools did not work on September 17. About 48,000 students did not go to classes, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Education. The schools in Briceni, Edinet, Ocnita, Rezina, Donduseni, Drochia, and Glodeni districts did not work because of the snowstorm, while in Soroca, Sangerei, and Hancesti were closed because the supply of electricity wasn’t working. Also, 3,521 students could not be transported to 89 district schools from 114 settlements. There were suspended 89 routes.
