All types of education establishments have been authorized by the Extraordinary Commission on Public Health to open starting September 1, if their founder decides so and provided that all sanitary precautions are taken.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu recalled that there are requirements to be met before studies can begin and expressed his hope that the period of 10 days left until September 1 will be enough for education institutions to comply.
Among those rules is the requirement for schools to be equipped with thermometers and adequate amounts of disinfectant. The government has allocated 31 million lei for this, and a further 105 million lei will go to remunerate teachers who will work extra hours.
School opening ceremonies will be disallowed this year.
Studies in universities will resume gradually after September 1.
In the previous academic year, education institutions were put on lockdown on March 11 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as classes moved online.
