Schools and kindergartens closed because of the cold

A number of schools and kindergartens stopped work owing to the very low temperatures, while others shortened the length of classes by 10-15 minutes, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Education. Education institutions were closed in the districts of Dubasari, Soldanesti, Calarasi, Ialoveni, Leova, Ocnita, Soroca, and Briceni. In Rezina district and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the education process in the first-fourth grades was suspended. The school managers, in concert with a teacher council, are to set a schedule to recover the failed classes. The length of the lessons in 12 education institutions, including five Chisinau schools, was decreased to 30-35 minutes. All the kindergartens in Chisinau work according to the normal program. The yellow code advisory covers the period until the end of this week. The temperatures are expected to drop to minus 24 degrees Celsius.
