The analysis of the situation in the education system during the first two weeks of the start of the school year showed that the school wasn’t a source of infection with COVID-19 bigger than the activities of those who weren’t involved in the education process, IPN quoted Minister of Education Igor Sharov as saying in a press briefing.

Igor Sharov noted the number of schools closed after two weeks is the same as the number of schools closed on Septembers 1. The start of the education process in schools didn’t lead to a major rise in the number of infections with the novel coronavirus.

According to the minster, 821 schools apply the traditional education model, with the physical presence of students in schools, while 431 schools use the shift-based model or the combined model. Ten institutions and 171 classes chose distance learning.

Statistics for the first two weeks of the school year show that almost 5,000 students are self-isolating, while 87 students and 173 teachers were confirmed with COVID-19.
