The building of the Chisinau Theater Satiricus “Ion Luca Caragiale” was inaugurated after undergoing extensive repair works. The reconstruction works were performed in 2012-2015 and their costs were covered by the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.
Over 25 million lei was allocated for renovation during the three years. The works included the construction of two new levels and repair of the two performance halls.
The seating capacity of the Big Hall was extended to 350, while the Small Hall, of 50 seats, was renovated. Both of the halls were outfitted with modern lighting and sound equipment. The building now has four stories, including the basement and the attic.
The theater also has a spacious ballet hall, a reading hall, a library, two dressing rooms, a laundry for costumes, rooms for keeping the décor and requisite things as well as tailor, painting and locksmith workshops.
