The Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) will boycott the referendum to dismiss Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality that will take place on November 19, but for different reasons. Statements on the issue were made by the first deputy chairman of the PDM Andrian Candu and the PAS leader Maia Sandu in a debate program on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
Andrian Candu said the PDM will not take part in the referendum because this is the political game of the Party of Socialists. “Though Chirtoaca should no longer hold mayoralty for particular reasons, this exercise was initiated by the Party of Socialists, not by us and it is their game. We do not want to take part and will boycott the referendum. We do not want to promote the interests of other parties, especially of the left,” stated the Speaker.
Maia Sandu considers the referendum to remove Dorin Chirtoaca from the mayoralty of Chisinau is a common game of the Democrats and the Socialists. “When civil society proposed dismissing Dorin Chirtoaca by referendum, the law enforcement agencies controlled by the PDM didn’t allow this. We suspect it is a reward for the PSRM for other services,” she stated.
